This one had a lot going on - and we loved every bit of it. The customer wanted a custom outdoor space that worked hard on both ends of the property. Out back, a large stone patio. Out front, something functional and good-looking in that awkward strip between the sidewalk and the street. We came up with a plan that tied it all together.
The backyard patio is the centerpiece. Large-format stone pavers laid in a clean, staggered pattern give the space a polished, modern feel. We worked around the existing tree rather than against it - using a river rock ring at the base to protect the roots while keeping the whole area looking intentional. The horizontal wood fence wrapping the perimeter pulls the whole space together and gives it that private, tucked-away feel that Boulder backyards are known for.
Out front, the customer opted for raised cedar planter beds set on a paver platform right in the front strip. That's a detail we really like - it turns a neglected patch of ground into something useful and sharp-looking. The beds are already set up with drip irrigation, so the customer can actually grow something without wrestling a hose around every day. It's the kind of thoughtful add-on that makes a real difference in how a property looks and functions.
This is a good example of what full-property outdoor living design looks like in practice. It's not just a patio. It's a cohesive plan - front to back - that makes the whole property better. Our patios and stonework are built to last, and the details we put into the design up front are what make the end result feel custom rather than cookie-cutter.
Boulder properties have character, and the outdoor spaces should match. Whether it's a backyard patio, a front-strip raised bed setup, or both at once, we approach each job with the same attention to detail. Built right. Designed to fit the property. No shortcuts.
